In Blaq, you can setup multiple branches (sometimes known as stores) if you will be running Blaq in more than one location. You need to setup at least one branch, even if you are only using the one location.

Branches can be used to uniquely identify transactions at each location. Each employee is assigned to a branch, and they can then be given the ability to only access transactions created by their branch, or all branches. This can be useful for some companies who don't want employees at one location accessing data from another location, or some employees simply don't need to see data from other locations.

Splitting transactions by branches also allows many of the sales and purchasing reports to be run for only a specified branch or all branches. Also, some reports will group figures by branch.

Once transactions are created for a branch the branch can't be removed, but it's other details can still be edited. Each branch can be setup with multiple departments, which are used for scheduling jobs. See departments and job scheduling for more information.

Branch
  • Code - each branch needs to be assigned a unique code to identify it. It should be 2 characters and the first must be a letter.
  • Name - a name or description for the branch. It can be anything, such as the branch's suburb/district/state.
  • Manager - the employee who manages the branch.
  • Invoice Bank Acc. - the bank account this branch uses. Invoices can be setup to include bank account information for the branch they are created for.
  • Sales Department - when a job is created, its location will automatically be set to this department.
  • Logo - a file to use for the branch's logo. Templates such as invoices can be setup to use different logos for each branch. If a company or branch image has been uploaded for use in templates, you can assign the image to the branch here.
  • IP Address - for locating user logins. If the branch has a fixed IP address, you can enter this here so the employee's access log shows the branch instead of the IP address. See Access Log for more details.
Delivery Address
  • The address of the branch. The building, street and suburb can be up to 40 characters, the state 8 characters, post code 6 characters and country 20 characters.
Phone & Fax - Sales
  • The telephone & facsimile number for the sales department or contact for the branch.
Phone & Fax - Accounts
  • The telephone & facsimile number for the accounts department or contact for the branch.
